So, as I begin my internship I’d like to explain what I am doing this for. At my school, Hinsdale Central, a course is offered called the Career Internship Program. In this course, we must find ourselves an internship and then write a research paper, reflection article, and personal journal. I will eventually upload the paper and article after my 16-week internship is over. This blog is my personal journal. Each week I will need to submit time-logs that are signed by Mr. Boatman, the lady who will be coordinating my internship, as well as reflections, both on the program and myself. Another requirement is a minimum of 60-80 hours of on-site interning experience.
The whole purpose of my school offering this course is so that students will be able to experience an actual work environment and interact with professionals in their particular field. It’s an opportunity for students who are still in high school to experience an internship, as well as mature and broaden their scope on possible careers. For me, I’d hope to continue interning Secretary White even after the 16 weeks, potentially even into the summer, and possibly do something with public policy later as a career.
