7/31/19 – Wednesday
Today was my last day interning with McKUDOS. It was sad, to say the least, but I know that my time was valuable and meaningful.
The main goal of today was to introduce Vernalynne, the program director, to all of the business owners, educators, and managers that I have met throughout the past month, especially those who have agreed to join the coalition. This will allow for her to be able continue to interact with those individuals and organizations in the future, keeping McKUDOS viable and sustainable with these new additions.
Throughout the day we walked through Chinatown and the surrounding area. I introduced Vernalynne to nearly twenty different organizations / business owners throughout the day. We held informative conversations and frequently exchanged business cards. To say that there were many laughs and smiles today would be an understatement.
It was also exciting to act as a translator for the first time, as a few of the business owners only spoke Mandarin, so I was able to repeat phrases to both sides. One time I was speaking to a business owner who sold glasses in Mandarin – because I thought that that was the only language that he spoke – but once Vernalynne started talking, he responded in English! He was really good too! I thought that this experience was extremely hilarious, and I was very surprised.
Although it was gloomy towards the end of the day, knowing that my time there was coming to an end, we were able to stay cheerful, knowing that my time here was extremely well spent.
Overall, today was a very fun day, and I hope that these newfound relationships will build upon another and help further McKUDOS’ success!
